Call for DEC Recommended Practices Committee Members
The DEC Recommended Practices Committee (RPC) is recruiting new members.
You’re invited to take this opportunity to be an engaged and active member of DEC!
We are seeking applicants for the following committee roles:
Up to four members with a background in research.
One member who is an early intervention practitioner.
One member who is an early childhood special education practitioner.
The purpose of the DEC Recommended Practices Committee is to continue the work begun by the DEC Recommended Practices Commission in 2013. The original Commission oversaw the revision of the DEC Recommended Practices in 2014. In 2018, the name of the DEC Recommended Practices Commission was changed to DEC Recommended Practices Committee to align with the DEC organizational restructure, however, the mission remains the same.
The DEC Recommended Practices Committee is to:
assure integration, and continuous revision of the DEC Recommended Practices as well as the establishment and maintenance of an evidence base to support the practices.
identify, validate, and synthesize evidence in support of the 2014 Recommended Practices
conduct or oversee evidence-based reviews of the 2014 Recommended Practices on an ongoing basis
Identify when modifications or additions are needed to the 2014 Recommended Practices
Consider a process for integrating and aligning the 2014 Recommended Practices and evidence with products and other planned activities using online platform.
The DEC RPC structure consists of a committee chair and up to 15 members to allow sufficient capacity to staff the three strands of the RPC work (Recommended Practices Revision, Evidence Synthesis, and Dissemination).
RPC Member Qualifications and Expectations
Must be a DEC member in good standing
Willing to serve a three-year term with possible reappointment
Attend and contribute to conference calls and one day-long meeting prior to the DEC Annual Conference
Make the necessary time commitment (approximately 2-6 hours per month)
The DEC RPC functions as a necessary and significant arm of the DEC Executive Office. DEC’s Committees are officially recognized bodies of DEC members that are supported by the DEC Executive Office and are liaised by members of the DEC Executive Board. DEC Committees embrace and support the division’s formal positions and proactively participate in developing, maintaining, and evolving strategies and initiatives crucial and central to supporting DEC’s mission and ends policies.
