Call for Survey Participants: New Research about Safety Skill Interventions for Children with ASD

Practitioners

Hello Teachers, Teacher Assistants/Aides, and Paraprofessionals!

My name is Melissa Jackson, I am a Doctoral Candidate at Hunter College in New York City, and I am currently completing my dissertation. I am conducting a research study to attempt to fill a gap in knowledge about current and future practices used to teach young children with autism to respond to lockdown drills in schools (i.e., active shooter drill). I am currently recruiting participants for my study nationwide.

I am looking for teachers AND paraprofessionals (i.e., non certified professionals in classrooms that support lead teachers such as: teacher assistants, behavior therapists, RBTs, teachers aides) who work with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) ages 4-8 and who worked in the 2018-2019 school year to participate. All participation and data will be de-identified, please see the attached flyer for more information and click the survey link to start the survey.

Please click the survey link in the flyer or here to start:

The survey will be available until May 1st, 2021.

Email: melissa.jackson31@myhunter.cuny.edu with any questions!

*This study has been approved by my institution's IRB.

Thank you,

Melissa Jackson

Families

Dear Families,

My name is Melissa Jackson, I am a Doctoral Candidate at Hunter College in New York City, and I am currently completing my dissertation. I am conducting a research study to attempt to fill a gap in knowledge about current and future practices used to teach young children with autism to respond to lockdown drills in schools (i.e., active shooter drill).

I am currently seeking families of children with ASD ages 4-12 years old to participate in a 60-minute interview (via Zoom) to help address a gap in what we know about safety skill interventions for children with ASD. All participation and data will be de-identified and all participants will receive a $25 gift card for their participation. Please see the flyer for more information and email melissa.jackson31@myhunter.cuny.edu to participate!

*This study has been approved by my institution's IRB

Thank you,

Melissa Jackson
