Secretary Releases Waiver Recommendations on IDEA

On April 27th, 2020, the U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, released a report to the Congress as directed by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The CARES legislation required the Secretary to provide recommendations to the Congress on what, if any, waiver authorities the Congress should consider to provide limited flexibility to assist States and local educational agencies to meet the needs of students and adults with disabilities during the COVID-19 national emergency.
