Early Childhood Teachers’ Beliefs and Use of Social Interaction Interventions

UCONN - University Center for Excellence in Excellence in Developmental Disabilities

A Call for DEC Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education Teachers:

Your participation is needed for a study examining teachers beliefs and use of social interaction interventions. This research study is being conducted by the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at UConn Health.

The CT UCEDD is seeking your help in investigating teachers’ beliefs and use of interventions to support the social interactions of young children with disabilities. This study is a dissertation research project utilizing a questionnaire used in prior research with DEC members. The purpose of this questionnaire is twofold:

  1. To investigate the relationship between teacher’s beliefs and use of interventions to facilitate peer social interactions.

  2. To investigate factors which support or impede teachers use of these important interventions.

By participating in this research, you may experience professional benefit in the future. The results of this study will be used to inform future research, policymaking, as well as personnel preparation and training to support the social and emotional development of young children with disabilities in early childhood settings. As such, the results may contribute to improved service to young children with disabilities.

Completing the questionnaire is voluntary; you may wish to stop at any time for any reason. Completion of the questionnaire indicates your consent to participate. If you choose to click on the link to participate in the survey you will be directed to an information sheet with a full description of the study. The information sheet will provide you with additional information regarding your privacy.

We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to participate. If you have any questions about this questionnaire please contact Dr. Mary Beth Bruder at 860-679-1500. The questionnaire is approved by UConn Health IRB (19X-140-2).
