A New Draft and the Next Step to Advance the Profession

The Power to the Profession Task Force, of which DEC is a member, seeks input from you!

If you have responded to previous drafts, thank you! If you are not yet aware of this important work, now is the time to join the effort.

If you have colleagues that are unaware, please share this critical information.

We will need a unified, informed early childhood voice as we move forward. Your advocacy ultimately benefits young children and their families!

Your voice. Your profession.

Now is our time to take the next step to advance the early childhood education profession.

Power to the Profession is a national collaboration to advance a more unified and compensated early childhood education profession that can effectively serve children birth through age 8 across all settings. The Power to the Profession Task Force intentionally raised issues that has grappled the field for years and sought your input.

The goal of elevating these conversations is to create a more cohesive profession that can drive public investments, including in compensation.

This next set of draft recommendations, known as Decision Cycles 345+6 Discussion Draft 2, is the result of the careful deliberation on some critical questions. This draft lays out a bold vision for the future of the profession and offers a unifying pathway to there. Recommendations are focused on differentiating pathways, preparation, and compensation.

Your expertise is needed!

Step 1—Read the draft. We have also developed an executive summary, and overview of content revisions from draft 1, and a slide presentation. Click here for additional resources.

Step 2—Share the draft with others. We need as many voices as possible to inform the Task Force recommendations.

Step 3—Tell us what you think. Complete the survey to share your thoughts.

Thank you for sharing your time, expertise, and thoughtful feedback as we work together to advance a unified early childhood education profession.
