Thursday, May 11, 2017, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT

Presented by Catherine Corr & Melinda Snodgrass Mixed methods (MM) is increasing in popularity in the social sciences. In this webinar, we will describe what MM is and what it isn’t. Using examples from our own mixed methods research, we will explore purposes for using mixed approaches, how worldview/mental models influence research, and common benefits and challenges when conducting mixed methods research. Further, we will address common myths and misconceptions about MM research, such as: - “I have to be an expert in both qualitative and quantitative methods to do MM.” - “Mixed methods research designs are not as rigorous as other designs.” - "I used a single-case design but included a qualitative measure of social validity, so I did MM.” - “You can’t get grant funding to do MM work.” Webinar participants will have multiple opportunities to comment and pose questions about using, reviewing, and consuming mixed methods research.
