Description: Early Childhood (EC) and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) professionals support young children with disabilities who have experienced maltreatment every day. However, many EC/ECSE professionals have reported feelings of uncertainty and confusion regarding supporting children who have been maltreated. Participants in this Learning Deck will explore:(1) the connection between disability and maltreatment in the early childhood years; (2) how early maltreatment can impact engagement, readiness, achievement;(3) DEC's position statement on Child Maltreatment.
