The purpose of DECIDE is to enhance the quality of doctoral education for DEC’s future leaders through the use of innovative approaches to learning. Higher education faculty, researchers, and policy/advocacy members of DECIDE can have a role in the preparation of doctoral students as a contributor to DECIDE. The only requirements for participation are DEC membership and an interest in doctoral education.

DECIDE seeks to engage higher education faculty, researchers, policymakers, and early childhood special education advocates and current doctoral students in a reciprocal relationship that provides doctoral students with support and mentorship while offering participating leaders in the field an opportunity to collaborate with future leaders, thereby creating a meaningful community of practice. Together, professionals and students work together to help shape the future of the fields of early intervention and early childhood special education (EI/ECSE).

This year, the DECIDE leadership team has focused on building our membership and cleaning our listserv to ensure our members are receiving our information about DECIDE events and opportunities. If you are interested in joining the DECIDE listserv, please complete the following survey: https://unr.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0on3g7ysETr458N

As a reminder, your DECIDE membership provides opportunities for leadership development, networking and collaboration, and access to the following activities.

Here are the events and activities scheduled for DECIDE members:

  • Monthly Meetings: FIRST TUESDAYS of each MONTH at 1:00 p.m. EST. We host monthly meetings to share updates, important information from the field, and offer each other support with on-going projects! In 2022, we will feature speakers on a variety of topics. You can find the session descriptions and schedule here: DECIDE Webinars 2022

  • DECIDE Writing Group: The DECIDE Writing Group meets the First Friday of every month from 1-3 p.m. EST. The Writing Group is held virtually through Zoom to provide space and time to work on writing projects (or other important tasks). This dedicated time for writing is facilitated by DECIDE leaders. At the beginning of the Writing Group, we will share our goals for the session, then move into focused writing time, and then follow up at the end of the meeting to celebrate success. The Writing Group provides opportunities for collaboration, information sharing, and accountability. DECIDE Writing Group Dates for Spring 2022: March 4, April 1, and May 6
