DEC is sponsoring a new initiative to promote the adoption, alignment, or integration of EI/ECSE Standards and resources into systems (i.e., local, regional, state/territory) that serve young children and their families. The pilot program will identify a Standards Ambassador(s) for each of a small number of states/territories.

The roles and expectations for the EI/ECSE Standards Ambassador are to:

  • Promote awareness of the EI/ECSE Standards;

  • Support higher education faculty and professional development providers in using the Standards;

  • Promote the adoption, alignment, or integration of Standards within state or territory licensure language;

  • Develop an annual action plan and submit an individual monthly report;

  • Serve for a minimum of two years;

  • Participate in monthly meetings with the DEC Office and other Ambassadors; and

  • Be a current member of CEC/DEC (can join upon acceptance).

The benefits of being an EI/ECSE Standards Ambassador are:

  • Recognition of service activities within DEC,

  • A digital badge,

  • Discount on 2026 DEC conference registration,

  • Opportunity to network with and learn from individuals across the United States, and

  • Access to a repository of resources for Standards Ambassadors.
