Call for DEC Research Committee Chair and Members

Research Committee Purpose
DEC’s Research Committee provides strategic direction and makes recommendations for DEC’s research efforts. The Research Committee members work collaboratively with the DEC Executive Office. Together, we strive to ensure DEC is at the forefront of innovative research. The Committee will support linkage and partnership with relevant constituent groups. Among other crucial activities, the Research Committee provides DEC members with resources and information on various issues related to research that are aligned with DEC’s mission and ends policies.
Research Committee Composition
The Research Committee is composed of a chair and 8-10 members. The chair and the members will work with the Executive Office to develop a charge and work scope. Members of the committee will review research requests, taking the place of the former Research Review Committee. At this time, we welcome all interested DEC members in good standing to apply to serve. Research Committee members volunteer their time and are not considered members of the DEC Executive Board.
Research Committee Member Qualifications and Expectations
Must be a DEC member in good standing
Have significant interest in research
Willing to serve a two to three-year term with possible reappointment
Be able to respond to queries promptly and provide input
Attend and contribute to committee and team conference calls
Make the necessary time commitment (approximately 6 hours per month)
DEC Committees
The DEC Research Committee functions as a necessary and significant arm of the DEC Executive Office. DEC’s Committees are officially recognized bodies of DEC members that are supported by the DEC Executive Office and are liaised by members of the DEC Executive Board. DEC Committees embrace and support the division’s formal positions and proactively participate in developing, maintaining, and evolving strategies and initiatives crucial and central to supporting DEC’s mission and ends policies.
