Contact Your Members of Congress to Ensure MIECHV Funding

DEC Members –

Many young children and their families who receive Home Visiting services and The Home Visiting Coalition, need our help!

Call, email, and tweet your members of Congress now with a simple message:

  • Please include renewal of the bipartisan MIECHV program in the continuing resolution to fund the government past February 8.

  • MIECHV expired more than 120 days ago. Since then, home visiting programs across the country have struggled to effectively plan services and maintain their home visiting staffs.

  • Without reauthorization, programs are beginning to turn away new children and families, lose employees and will ultimately close their doors.

  • It is critical that you renew MIECHV for 5-years at no less than level funding on the upcoming continuing resolution.

You can look up your senators here and your representative here. It’s also important to make calls to leadership in both the House and Senate. Look for the Twitter handles of your senators here and representatives here. The following senators co-sponsored S. 1829 in the Senate. Please urge them to ensure that MIECHV is included in the continuing resolution. Share a personal story about home visiting if you have one.

Your voice needs to be heard now!

The current continuing resolution to fund the government expires February 8. Last night, the House of Representatives released a continuing resolution to fund the government through March 23 and it did not include the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program.

DEC is a member of The Home Visiting Coalition, a diverse group of organizations committed to the well-being of children, working to promote continued federal support of home visiting to strengthen families in communities across the country.

Thank you for your voices! Know just a few moments of your time can make a world of difference for young children and their families!
