YEC Editorial Board Call for Doctoral Student Reviewers & Doctoral Reviewer Mentors

Call for Doctoral Student Reviewers

DEC’s Young Exceptional Children (YEC) journal is continuing our

tradition of supporting doctoral students with opportunities to serve as

journal reviewers. This experience will prepare doctoral students to

engage in meaningful and respectful reviews of submissions to YEC.

Through mentorship from current YEC reviewers, doctoral Students will

learn to critically evaluate manuscripts, write informative reviews for

editors and authors, and make recommendations for publication. Each

member of the doctoral student guest reviewer board must have a

faculty mentor who commits to guiding the doctoral student’s

development as a reviewer. After successful review experiences, doctoral

students will become regular guest reviewers for YEC.

Call for Doctoral Review Mentors

Many of our doctoral students do not have access to a faculty mentor in

their own programs. Many of our YEC reviewers many not have doctoral

students to mentor. Therefore, we are asking for volunteers to mentor

doctoral students outside of their program.
