DEC Provides Comments on ED's NPRM Assistance to States for the Education of Children with Disab

On Monday, May 16, 2016, the Division for Early Childhood provided comments to the Department of Education's NPRM regarding Assistance to States for the Education of Children with Disabilities: Preschool Grants for Children with Disabilities. Representing our passionate membership of individuals who are engaged and committed to working with their partners at the state and local levels to ensure the provision of high-quality IDEA services and to increase full participation of all young children in high-quality early learning experiences that support their development, DEC responded specifically to prompts regarding two main issues: 1. Provisions that require calculation of disproportionality from age 3-21 for identification and discipline. 2. Allowing comprehensive CEIS funds to be used to serve children from age 3 to grade 12, with and without disabilities. Read our full letter and comments to the Department of Education here.
