Our mission

The Division for Early Childhood (DEC) promotes policies and advances evidence-based practices that support families and enhance the optimal development of young children (0-8) who have or are at risk for developmental delays and disabilities. DEC is an international membership organization for those who work with or on behalf of young children (0-8) with disabilities and other special needs and their families.

The DEC Leadership SIG is open to any DEC member who shares an interest in leadership as a concept or a practice and wants to affiliate with others to develop leadership capacity in themselves and in the field of early childhood special education. Members come together in several ways, including face-to-face meetings at the DEC Conference and through digital means to build and manage the knowledge they need.

YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED - Please complete and share this survey.

We are inviting you to participate in the following survey www.surveymonkey.com/s/22W8VVR to learn more about your needs as a leader in early childhood and inform the development of a Leadership Resource Clearinghouse (LRC). This survey was developed by the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children’s Leadership Special Interest Group. A mission of the group is to develop a LRC that will house and summarize leadership research and resources. Through this platform, the DEC Leadership SIG hopes the information will help current and aspiring leaders enhance their knowledge and skills.

Please help us by completing the survey and sharing the survey with other families and professionals (direct service providers, administrators, higher education faculty, professional development and training/technical assistance providers) as we believe leaders exist at every level of the early intervention/early childhood special education service systems.

Thank you for your time and support.
