Our mission

The Division for Early Childhood (DEC) promotes policies and advances evidence-based practices that support families and enhance the optimal development of young children (0-8) who have or are at risk for developmental delays and disabilities. DEC is an international membership organization for those who work with or on behalf of young children (0-8) with disabilities and other special needs and their families.

Social Media

The DEC Leadership SIG is open to any DEC member who shares an interest in leadership as a concept or a practice and wants to affiliate with others to develop leadership capacity in themselves and in the field of early childhood special education. Members come together in several ways, including face-to-face meetings at the DEC Conference and through digital means to build and manage the knowledge they need.

The DEC Leadership SIG is pleased to invite you to its first Web Conversation on October 22, 2015 at 2:00pm-3:30 pm Eastern time. Please email LeadershipECSE@gmail.com to register.
Finding Courage: A Woman’s Challenge
Courage is about action. Explore the interplay of desire, fear and courage as a woman’s challenge. An interactive web-conversation designed to engage participants in self-examination. At the end of the web-conversation participants will: be equipped with a framework to understand fear, undertake a challenge encouraging self-discovery, and develop a fear conquering strategy.
